What working with us looks like

Clear from the first call, all the way to the check.

Most people we reach have already had a hard year. The last thing they need is a stranger asking them to trust something they can't check. So we build every step around letting you check.

A person, not a call center

One case manager stays with you from the first call to the final payout. You'll know their name and how to reach them.

Verify us first

We give you the county and case number so you can confirm every detail with the clerk before you sign anything.

Nothing up front

No fees, no retainers, no filing costs. We're paid out of what's recovered. If nothing comes back, you owe nothing.

Licensed attorneys file the claim

Where a claim needs an attorney, we bring in one licensed in your state, and we cover the cost.

Paperwork handled

We prepare the documents, arrange the notary if the court needs one, and walk you through each signature.

Plain updates

You'll hear from us when something happens and when nothing has, so you're never left guessing where it stands.

Completed recoveries

Where a claim ends. With a disbursement.

Every claim finishes the same way. The court or the attorney trust account releases the funds and issues the disbursement. Names, account numbers and case numbers are redacted here.

How it works

Five steps, and you can stop at any of them.

You'll always know where your claim stands and what happens next.

  1. 01

    We find the money

We review public records from foreclosure and tax sales to find surplus that's sitting unclaimed. If we think some of it may be yours, we reach out.

  2. 02

    You check us

On the first call we give you the county and the case number. Call the clerk yourself. Confirm the money is there before we go any further.

  3. 03

    We prepare the claim

We put together the documents the court requires and send them to you to sign. If a notary is needed, we arrange it.

  4. 04

    An attorney files it

A licensed attorney in your state files the claim and deals with the court or trustee holding the funds. You don't pay for that.

  5. 05

    You get paid

When the funds are released, they're disbursed to you. Our fee comes out of the recovery, and only then.

Before you hire anyone

Four things worth checking. Including on us.

This industry has bad actors in it, and homeowners are the ones who pay for that. Here's what to look for before you sign anything with anybody.

  1. 01

    They want money up front

A legitimate firm is paid from what it recovers. If someone asks for a fee before any work is done, hang up.

  2. 02

They push you to sign today

Claim deadlines are real, but they run in months. Pressure to sign in the next hour is a sales tactic.

  3. 03

They won't tell you the county

You can confirm everything with the clerk of courts for free. Anyone who dodges that question has a reason.

  4. 04

    They're vague about the fee

Get it in writing before you sign anything. Many states cap what can be charged on these claims.

Common questions

Straight answers, before you ask.

When a foreclosed property sells at auction for more than what was owed on it, the extra money is called surplus funds, or excess proceeds. In most cases it belongs to the person who owned the home. A lot of people never hear that it exists.

Yes, and you don't have to take our word for it. Ask the caller for the county and the case number, then call the clerk of courts for that county directly. They can confirm whether money is being held from your sale. We'd rather you check than wonder.

Start with a free review. We look at the public record for your property and tell you what we find, including when the answer is that there's nothing there.

Nothing up front. We work on contingency, which means our fee comes out of the money that's recovered. If nothing is recovered, you don't owe us anything.

Yes. You're never required to hire anyone to claim surplus funds. You can file directly with the court or county that's holding the money, at no cost. Most people come to us because the paperwork is unfamiliar and the deadlines are real, and they'd rather have someone handle it.

It depends on the county and the type of sale. Most claims take a few weeks to a few months from filing to payout. We keep you updated the whole way.

No. We're a private recovery company. When a claim needs an attorney, we bring in a licensed attorney in your state to file it, and we cover that cost.

We only ask for what the claim needs, we don't sell it, and we share it only with the attorney on your case and the parties required to process the claim.
